Handwashing is one of the easiest habits to teach and one of the hardest to remember on a rushed day. A few anchor moments make it easier for the whole family.
Wash at the moments that matter
After the bathroom, before eating or preparing food, after coughing or blowing the nose, after school or errands, and after handling shared surfaces when hands are visibly dirty.
Make it stick
Keep soap within reach, use a step stool for small children, and make the routine part of coming home, eating, and getting ready for bed. Wash with soap and running water, including fingertips and under nails.
